 URGENT ALERT – Zebra Mussels found on boat bound for Fish Hook Lake

Those of you who get the Park Rapids Enterprise may have already read this article. At any rate for the rest of you it is about finding zebra mussels in a boat that came from Lake Minnetonka and was gettting ready to be stored at Charlies. It was destined for Fish Hook Lake.

Meeting Minutes for July 9, 2011 6:30 PM
1. Call to order Andy called the meeting to order
2. Introduction and Welcome In attendance were: Jim & Sue Pickus, Linda Weih, Mary Ann & Don Erpelding, Art & Cynthia Smith, Stan & Darlene Stender, Mike and Carolyn Maloney, Nancy Clark & son Dave, Andy Kietzman, Kaye & Tom Molin, Bob Schmidt, Jeff & Betty Haukebo
3. Presentation by Guest Speaker (Brad Witkin, DNR Forestry) regarding sustainable forest management on small parcels. Brad was gone due to government shut-down.
4. Review minutes from 2009 and 2010 meetings Minutes were reviewed & approved.
5. Treasurer’s Report (Betty) Please see attachment.
6. Reports:
-Lake Condition (Don E.) Water testing is done from May-September. Secci disc reading is at 17.5 feet. TSI value is going down (45.8 down to 40.6 last year) which means our water quality is improving. Check out all info on website: rmbelinfo.com
-Loon Population Baby loons have been spotted—1 in Bad Axe & 2 in Buck (may be down to 1 baby)
-Muskie Sightings Muskies have been spotted & caught & released
-Isle O’ Dreams Report from resort was good—July & first half of August is full—boat cleaning continues
-Camp Wilderness (Andy K.) Not much new at Camp this year—some lights have been updated—discussion on siren going off for too long (Andy will look into this) – siren goes off to make sure all scouts are “in” for safety reasons
-Beaver Trapping (Andy K.) 5 beavers were taken this last winter
-COLA (MaryAnn) Lawsuit update given/see attachment on Hubbard Cola & what they do for Lake Associations
-AIS (Tom M.) Tom attended a meeting for AIS (Aquatic Invasive Species)/report was very interesting—Bad Axe has no invasive species (do have Banded Mystery Snails)—remember to check “all vehicles” going into the lake (including Jet skies & any rentals)
Tom Molin has a pontoon trailer he is willing to let any lake member use who need to move their pontoon—please call him if interested in using it!! (732-4054) (AIS is carried on trailers also)
7. Discussion regarding bills to be paid or motions for contributions Motion made & approved to continue paying or donating to: Water Testing; COLA Dues; AIS; Beaver Bounty; COLA Lawsuit
8. Election of new VP and Sec/Treas. for upcoming year (2 yr term), and installation of Kaye Molin as President. Bob Schmidt accepted position of VP/ Betty Haukebo will continue as Sec-Treasurer/Kaye Molin was installed as President
9. New Business/Other items Schoffner’s sent greetings & regret they cannot be at meeting
REMINDER TO PAY DUES!!
Mary Ann mentioned a book written by a girl from Detroit Lakes about clean lakes—see attachment. May be something you might like to purchase to have at the lake (or put in a school library)
MALONEY’S HAVE A NEW GRANDDAUGHTER!! CALL CAME IN DURING THE MEETING!
